Randy Scott, obituary
UNION — Randy Scott, 72, of Union, passed away on August 27, 2021 at Spaulding Rehab Hospital in Cambridge, Massachusetts after a battle with cancer.
Born in Rockland on March 27, 1949, he was the son of Herman and Veda (Cunningham) Scott of Union. Randy attended school in Union and was the 1968 graduating class of Union High School. After graduation Randy left to serve in the Vietnam War with the NMCB-12 (Naval Mobile Construction Battalion) from 1968 – 1969.
After returning home, Randy married Carol Wallace of Union. Together they had four children. Over the years their home was the center of all family events and gatherings.
Randy was well known for his mechanical skills. He retired from Bath Iron Works after 32 years of service as a machinist. In the community he was recognized as a lifetime member on the Union Fire Department, with over 50 years of service. He was also notorious for being a “Mr. Fix It.” If anyone had a small engine that needed tinkering, Randy was the person call on.
Randy’s pride and joy was his family. Known as Dad or Pops he leaves behind wife Carol; daughters, Tracy and her husband Mike Weed, and Jennifer Lavway of Union; sons, Corey and his wife Megan, of Cumberland, and Christopher and his wife Janelle, of Morrill; six grandchildren, Kurt Ward of Warren, Ashley Brown and her husband John of Union, Sheldon Lavway of Union, Adrianna and Mila Scott of Cumberland, Latham Scott of Morrill; three great-grandchildren, Will Ward of Hope and Warren, Zoe and Lucy Brown of Union; brother-in-law, James Wallace of Union; and favorite K-9 buddy, Red; and a very large extended family. Randy also leaves behind special sister, Susan Larson of Hudson, Massachusetts.
There will be a private interment at Lake View Cemetery on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at 11 a.m.
The family invites the public to join them to celebrate Randy’s life, Saturday, September 4, 2021, at 1 p.m., at Savage Oakes Vineyard and Winery, 175 Barrett Hill Road in Union.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Union Fire & Rescue, P.O. Box 186 Union, ME 04862, or can be dropped off at the Town Office, 567 Common Rd. Union.
