Mid-Coast Recovery Coalition welcomes Chris Young as newly appointed Board member
The Mid-coast Recovery Coalition (MCRC) Board of Directors announces Chris Young, Chief of the Rockland Police Department, as a newly elected Board member.
“Substance Use Disorder including addiction to drugs and/or alcohol has become all too common in Midcoast Maine and across the country, taking its toll on individuals and families throughout our communities,” said MCRC, in a news release.
MCRC is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to support individuals and families seeking help and healing to address the challenge of addiction. Since inception, MCRC has established two recovery residences to offer stable housing and program support for individuals choosing recovery.
“We look to a future where our goal is to increase our recovery residences,” said MCRC.
Chief Young joined the Rockland Police Department in January 1996 and has held many ranks until being promoted to the Chief of Police in 2015. He has seen firsthand the effects of addiction and is committed to make the community stronger and more resilient. He was assigned to a drug taskforce and worked as both a case agent and in an undercover capacity during his tenure with the Department.
Board President Robyn Stanicki said: "I am pleased that Chris has chosen to expand his service to the mid-coast area by joining our Board. Mid-Coast Recovery Coalition is led by caring and empathetic community members and has worked hard in the past year to develop and maintain relationships with service providers and town officials. As we continue to integrate into the surrounding communities, Chris will be a key leader as we move in this direction. "
