Vacant house is site of Thomaston fire
THOMASTON — The original fire that drew fire departments to 115 Booker Street, in Thomaston, was extinguished relatively quickly, Oct. 12, 2024. However, the investigation into its cause may take some time.
A passerby reported smoke coming from the first floor of the vacant house, at the corner of Booker and Thomas streets, which produced a 5:38 p.m. alert to fire crews hailing from Thomaston, Rockland, South Thomaston, Cushing, Warren, and Waldoboro, while Owls Head FD provided station coverage at the Rockland station. At 6 p.m., the initial fire, in the first floor of the structure, was declared to be extinguished, and after another half hour, crews began repacking their gear. Yet, with the house being vacant, the Fire Marshal's Office has been requested and will be working with the Thomaston Fire and Police departments.
Water was supplied by a nearby hydrant.
No more information has been provided.
Many fire crews were back at their individual stations by 7:20 p.m.
