Nov. 5, 2013 Elections: Municipal and state referendums, ordinance changes, candidates
Voters go to the polls Nov. 5 to consider five statewide ballot questions, and various individual municipal warrant articles. Following are election previews and recent issue stories for Knox and Waldo counties, as well as a rundown of the bond issues voters across the state are being asked to decide.

Belfast Police beat
BELFAST — Belfast Police reported two traffic infractions May 7 - 25. Of the two citations, one was for speeding, and the other for an inspection sticker violation. In addition to the two traffic citations, the following activity was also reported.
An arrest or summons does not constitute a conviction, and those charged are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.

Waldo County Sheriff’s beat
BELFAST — The Waldo County Sheriff’s Department reported issuing three traffic citations between April 25 - June 1. Of the three traffic citations, one was issued for failure to provide proof of insurance, one for failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle, and one for a motor vehicle operator using a handheld device. Man who unintentionally shot woman in face sentenced in Waldo County Court
BELFAST — A Clifton man who pleaded no contest to charges of reckless conduct was sentenced to two years in prison, with all but 120 days suspended in Waldo County Unified Court April 29.
