Joining a growing trend of libraries across Maine and the U.S., the Rockland Public Library is going fine-free!

Thanks to the generous donations from the Friends of Rockland Public Library and the Rockland Public Library Endowment Association, beginning July 1, the Library will not be charging fines for late material. 

While patrons must still pay the cost of lost material, the barrier to service erected by the fear of accumulating fines will be gone, and we anticipate this step will further enhance the welcoming, community-centered environment staff work so hard to foster.

Library staff could not be more excited and look forward to welcoming back those patrons whose past fines or fear of fines may have kept them away.
