PBMC, WCGH welcome National Guard troops
ROCKPORT and BELFAST — More than two dozen National Guard troops arrived at Pen Bay Medical Center and Waldo County General Hospital on the morning of Thursday, Jan. 20, 2022, to lend a helping hand as the hospitals face the challenge of the COVID Omicron surge.
“We’re grateful that we can help,” said SFC Daniel Bibeau, in a hospital news release. Bibeau is the leader of the PBMC team. “The National Guard brings together a dynamic group of people from different backgrounds together to serve the community. This is what we signed up for.”
PBMC will host 17 members of the National Guard and WCGH will host 11. They will serve as sitters, environmental services techs and TNAs, a role that is similar to a CNA. They will be deployed at the hospitals through Feb. 25.
