Montville man to serve one year in prison for March escape from police custody
BELFAST — A Montville man has been sentenced to serve a year in prison following his escape from police custody in March.
Robert I. Porter, 39, was apprehended the same day as his escape, which occurred around 12:45 p.m., when he fled Waldo County General Hospital after being transported for treatment of an unspecified medical issue.
Porter was able to flee the area with the assistance of three friends, who were all subsequently charged with aiding escape. Porter was able to evade capture for the afternoon and evening of his escape, before being recaptured just after 9 p.m. the same day he escaped.
