Friendship voters approve plow truck purchase at the polls
FRIENDSHIP — Voters in Friendship had two local questions on Tuesday’s ballot, and they overwhelmingly approved both Article 2 and 3, clearing the way for the purchase of a new plow truck.
The vote tally for Article 2 was 463-yes and 135-no. For Article 3, the tally was 456-yes and 152-no.
According to the warrant article, the town is seeking to buy a new Ford F550 with plow, wing and side dump sander for the highway department.
The article sought approval to appropriate $60,000 from the Vehicle Replacement Fund, and borrow a principal amount not to exceed $32,00, and to raise and appropriate $16,483.07 for the first annual payment toward the purchase of the truck. Voters were also asked to authorize municipal officers to spend an amount not to exceed 5/12 of the budgeted amount in the Snow Budget category of the 2014 annual budget, during the period from Jan. 1, 2015, to the 2015 annual meeting.
A total of 624 votes were cast, with 26 blanks for Article 2 and 16 for Article 3.
