A brush with the plow truck
Happy birthday to folks celebrating March 27 to April 2: Madeline Kelly, Ralph Hilton, Koren Barrea, Michael McAtee, Kyle Canada, Thomas Hutchins, Majorie Whitehurst, Aldric Canada, Rebecca Cannon, Brad Christopher, David Reingardt, Forrest Faulkingham, Robert Bowby II, David Brodeur, Katherine Bruce and Patrick Mason. I hope your family gives you a day that is the one to remember, best wishes and love filled.
My grandson Chris Brawn turned 21, on March 23, bad Grammy. Yup forgot to wish him a good one. He and friends went bowling after work, then back to his cousin's house to celebrate. Smart young folks in my book.
Bad not once but twice, Neilly and Alan celebrated 15 years of marriage on the March 21. My only excuse is I'm getting old and the first to go is my mind. Haha! Love to you all. I will try to do better next year.
I checked with Cindy and David; they really need help. The salad and pie donations for the Bean and Ham Supper on April 13 is not looking good right now. Without you folks updating new cell phones numbers, she has no list to call you. Please call and leave message, with Cindy at 207-882-7192 or the Alna fire station at 207-586-5555. No numbers will be given out, only used for donations for suppers.
Come on folks, help out. The bean suppers have been a tradition for many years. People come from all over the county. They look forward to the good food and the Pie Auction.
On April 12 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. a workshop for land trails, nature centers and private landowners will be held at Hidden Valley Nature Center. For more information or to register call 207-200-8840 or codey@hvnc.org/.
On April 21 and 28 Hidden Valley Nature Center will hold a chain saw safety workshop. Participants will learn about safety gear, and how to buy a good chainsaw. Learn and practice the newest safe chain saw techniques. Scholarships are available; email amarshall@mofg.org or codey@hvnc.org/.
Thanks to a plow truck traveling way too fast over the center line near Joel Verney's, Neilly and I took a wild ride around 7:30 a.m. Thanks to Neilly's driving skills we went between the granite pillar and Joel’s big tree, back up his driveway. We headed home; we were not hurt, but shook up. The truck driver didn't even stop to check on us. Makes me wonder what would happen on one of the narrower roads in town.
It took me till Friday to calm down enough to write a letter of complaint to selectmen that was fit to read.
I'm not the first to complain. We have had calls all winter about this fast speed, mailboxes hit and rocks in the sander hitting windshields.
Hope your week was better than mine. Looking forward to spring weather? Have a happy, safe week.
