THOMASTON — Join Georges River Land Trust and the Maine Forest Service for a woodland walk looking for signs of spring and practicing mindfulness, Friday, April 24, from 4:30 - 6 p.m., at the Rockland Bog Preserve in Thomaston.

"This walk is a great way to explore Georges River Land Trust’s new Beechwood Street trailhead to the Rockland Bog, the largest peatland complex in midcoast Maine," said GRLT, in a news release.

Join Georges River Land Trust for a guided group hike along the trails of the Appleton Preserve on Saturday, April 18. Hikers should meet at the trailhead at 10 a.m. The hike will cover about 2.5 miles of trails, with portions of uneven ground. Planning for wet and muddy conditions by wearing boots may be helpful, according to GRLT, in a news release.

The Rockland Harbor Trail Committee invites everyone to join them on Thursday, April 9, for their next Discover the Trail adventure. Led by local birder Kate Doiron, the committee will host a bird walk. The Discover the Trail adventure, in partnership with the Friends of the Maine Coastal Islands National Wildlife Refuge, will take place from 8:30 to 10 a.m.

FITCHBURG, MASSACHUSETTS — Two Lincolnville boys have each claimed a championship, and each earned ranked status in the sport of wrestling, after competing in the Maine All-State/New England Qualifier, according to a media release March 17. 

Leland Fields and Benjamin Laite, who both attend Lincolnville Central School, wrestle exclusively for Mid-Coast Wrestling Club, which is a feeder program from Camden HIlls.

On Sunday, March 29, at 1 p.m., join naturalist Cloe Chunn of the Belfast Bay Watershed Coalition on a walk through the sugar maples in Belfast’s Grove Cemetery. Sponsored by the Belfast Garden Club, the event is free and open to the public.

This US Masters Swimming–recognized Short Course Yards (SCY) meet is open to swimmers 18 and older, and you do not need to be a registered Masters swimmer to participate, according to the Y, in a news release.

"We at the State got together and we did a nice proclamation, because this is a very big honor," said Doudera.
