Maine drug enforcement agents arrest two for illegal drug trafficking in Waldoboro

    WALDOBORO — The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency announces the arrest of two people during the execution of a search warrant at a residence on Finntown Road in Waldoboro following a months-long investigation into illegal drug trafficking from the residence. Fentanyl, Methamphetamine, Cocaine, a loaded handgun, and suspected drug proceeds were seized during the search.

    ARRESTED:

    HOLLIS OWENS (50) of Mattapan, Massachusetts, was arrested on 3 Counts of Aggravated Trafficking Schedule W Drugs Class A. Bail was set at $25,000. Owens is currently being held at Two Bridges Jail in Wiscassett

    SHAWN BREWER (42) of Waldoboro, was arrested on 1 Count of Aggravated Trafficking Schedule W Drugs Class A. Bail was set at $10,000. Brewer is currently being held at Two Bridges Jail in Wiscassett.

    During the months of March and April agents from the Mid-Coast District Task Force began an investigation into illegal drug trafficking conducted by Hollis Owens of Mattapan, Massachusetts. Owens was residing at the residence of Shawn Brewer on Finntown Road in Waldoboro where Agents conducted undercover purchases of illegal narcotics from Owens and Brewer.

    After obtaining a search warrant for the residence, agents, with the assistance of the Maine State Police Tactical team, Waldoboro Police Department, Waldoboro EMS and the Lincoln County Sheriffs Office executed the search warrant on Thursday, April 24, 2024. During the search of the residence agents located $7236 in suspected drug proceeds some of which was recorded buy money, a loaded handgun, 13.9g of Fentanyl, 11.5g Methamphetamine and 2g cocaine base, according to a news release from the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency,

    Owens and Brewer attempted to destroy the narcotics by flushing them in the toilet. Agents were able to recover the narcotics from the sewer drain at the residence.

    Owens and Brewer are scheduled to appear in Lincoln County court on Friday, April 26, 2024 where more charges may be brought.

    All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

    Assisting MDEA in this investigation were representatives from Waldoboro Police Department, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Maine State Police and Town of Waldoboro Ambulance Service.
