Judith E. Meklin, obituary
CUSHING — Judith E. Meklin, 84, wife of the late Donald E. Meklin, died Saturday, June 21, 2025, at her home, surrounded by the love and care of her family.
Born in Cushing, February 5, 1941, she was the daughter of James and Florence Robinson Young. Judy was a 1959 graduate of Thomaston Academy.
On June 22, 1963, Judy married Donald E. Meklin in Thomaston. Her family said their parents were always proud of the fact that they were each the only loves of their lives.
In 1968 Judy and Donald built their home in Cushing where they raised their family and operated the family business. While Judy considered her family and providing a good home for them as her first responsibility, Judy also was an integral part of Donald E. Meklin & Sons Excavation, keeping the books for that business until 2021.
She enjoyed family gatherings and outings which included cookouts, trips to Labell and Miami, Florida to visit family, and going out for lunch Wednesdays with her best friend Bette Keizer and all the other girls. She enjoyed traveling to Hawaii, New Zealand and Australia with her friends Harry and Bunny Burakowski. She also found great joy in spending time with her grandchildren.
For a few years, she worked in the lunch program at Cushing Community School.
For many years, Judy was active and supported her husband in his commitment to the Orient Masonic Lodge 15 in Thomaston and the Mid-Coast Shrine Club.
Other than her parents, Judy was predeceased by her husband Donald E. Meklin in 2008.
She is survived by two sons, Eric A. Meklin and his wife Bridget, Bruce G. Meklin and his wife Ann all of Cushing; seven grandchildren, Eric M. Meklin, Joshua T. Meklin and his companion Meggan Peters, Ryan G. Meklin and his wife Shelby Meklin, Isaac J. Meklin, Caleb Meklin, Devin G. Meklin, Raven M. Meklin; five step-grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; a brother, Philip Young and his wife Suzanne of Cushing; her in-laws, Barbara Hooper of Warren, Susan Meklin of Warren, as well as nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Meggan Peters and all Judy’s other care givers for all their love, care, and support.
