Rockland Police Dept. to participate in Gun Giveback Day, June 1
ROCKLAND — Rockland Police Dept. is one of several law enforcement agencies across Maine that will participate in Gun Giveback Day, June 1, 2024, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. In Lincoln County, the Sheriff’s Office and Brunswick PD will also participate.
This event is in cooperation with the Maine Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Maine Gun Safety Coalition.
“The events, which are happening around the state, give people an opportunity to safely dispose of unwanted firearms and ammunition in a legal and responsible way,” said Nacole Palmer, executive director of the Manie Gun Safety Coalition, in a news release. “Maine made incredible progress on protecting our state from gun violence during this year’s legislative session, but there is still work to be done, including making sure that guns are stored safely.”
Cable locks, which can be used to safely secure firearms, will be available for free.
