George E. Geesey, obituary
SOUTH THOMASTON — George E. Geesey passed away peacefully on Sept. 12.
George and his late wife, Rebecca M. Geesey (d. 2015), retired to Maine. They embraced their new 'home' town by being active members of the Wessaweskeag Historical Society, the Lions' Club, the South Thomaston Library, Lakeview Orthodox Presbyterian Church, and other civic/non-profit groups.
George had an illustrious 49-year career in Radio/TV Broadcasting in Washington, D.C. His passion for broadcast mediums led him to become a part-time engineer for Clear Channel Radio in Rockland. He enjoyed making videos, taping weddings, and concerts, compiling, recording, and editing memories for friends and family.
As an avid amateur photographer, George was fond of capturing special moments for friends and family, and delighted in capturing the beauty of Maine.
George was an enthusiastic model railroader and boasted an impressive HO- gauge layout which filled his basement. He won numerous awards for his detailed models, dioramas and structures.
George was well-known among family and friends as being a Champion Punster.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a daughter, Robin C. Geesey, and his brother, Roger.
He is survived by his children Ellen Dean (Bruce) of Frederick, Maryland; Gordon (Yolanda) of Ridgely, Maryland and Karen Parson (Harrison) of Westerview, Ohio; and four great granddaughters, Annie Mack, Ellen, Mary and Elizabeth Rogers of Frederick, Maryland.
