Join Trekkers Training Institute this summer for an afternoon workshop (or more). Sliding fee scale, from free to $30. Open to all adults, including parents, guardians, mentors, and volunteers who work with youth and want to develop skills for engaging young people. Registration required. Each session is limited to 15 participants.

Embracing a Strengths-Based Approach
Wednesday, July 26, 1-4PM
A strengths-based approach values the skills, knowledge, and unique capabilities that every individual brings to an experience. This workshop will examine how Trekkers uses strengths (and not deficits) to approach and inform relationship building and programming with youth. Using the PEAR Institute’s Clover Model Framework as a lens, we will work together to view challenges that arise both working with youth and in our own lives using a strengths-based perspective.

Creating a Community Support Network
Wednesday, August 2, 1-4PM
Navigating through the changes and challenges during adolescence requires a great deal of support, and often the needs of the youth we serve can fall outside of our area of expertise. Trekkers has built a web of support using volunteers, community providers and outside resources to meet these challenges as they arise. Together we will examine how Trekkers leverages a community web to support our youth and begin mapping resources to support the youth you serve.

Elevating Youth Voice and Choice
Wednesday, August 9, 1-4PM
How can we as adults better support youth as they navigate the realities of living in today’s world? We can start by inviting them into the conversation. Giving youth time and space to speak and recognizing and encouraging their important contributions to solving problems benefits everyone involved. We will explore how Trekkers shares power and gives the young people we work with input in decision making processes. We’ll also brainstorm strategies for elevating youth voice in our community.
