Robert Wenk Sr., obituary
ROCKLAND — Robert Bannon Wenk Sr., 85, died peacefully April 29, 2014, at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport.
Born April 10, 1929, in Roselle Park, N.J., in his grandmothers home, he was the son of John and Alice Bannon Wenk.
Mr. Wenk was married to Clara J. Schmidt for 53 years before her death in 2000.
Living in Belford, N.J., for many years, he was a firefighter for Independent Fire Company. Mr. Wenk next returned to his boyhood town of Roselle Park, where he and Clara raised their family in their Elm Street home. He worked for Pamarco Company for 36 years before moving to Georgia. Together they lived in Georgia for 30 years before moving back to Bedminster, N.J., in 2000.
In 2009, Mr. Wenk moved to Rockland to be near his daughter. He enjoyed residing at the Rankin Center, where he took great joy in calling bingo as well as serving meals to his many friends in the dining room.
He was an animal lover and adopted five older dogs from Lexington Animal Hospital during his years in Bedminster.
Mr. Wenk is survived by his children, Susan Bates and her husband, Don, of Rockland, Leslie DiLollo and her husband, Bert, of Plainfield, N.J., Robert B. Wenk Jr. and his wife, Susan, of Marshal Creek, Pa., and John F. Wenk and his wife, DeSales, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; as well as his brother, Richard Wenk and his wife, Diane, of Metuchen, N.J.; his sisters, Joan Palisca of Bethlehem, Pa., and Judy Micucci and her husband, Tony, of Barnaget, N.J.; and a sister-in-law, Janice Wenk of Lakewood, N.J.

No services will be held at this time.
Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home in Rockland.
