Letter to the editor: Vote for Ed Glaser
Rabbi Hillel said, "In memory is redemption" and so, in support of Ed Glaser for city council, I ask you to remember all Ed did to take the Rockland Harbor from a port that the New York Yacht Club originally warned against, to a port that the New York Yacht Club now recommends.
Ed knows the history of this city.
He knows the people, the politics, the city officials, the far away mariners, the local fishermen, right down to the saints and the sinners.
He gets Rockland, and its hopes and dreams to become the strong prosperous city that works together. We are closer than ever to seeing that come true.
So, I admit, I long for a councilor with an institutional memory of our city.
We need the stability that longtime service represents. These people from away, the vain fortune hunters who want us to change Rockland into their ideal version of where they fled, are most tiresome and very expensive.
Let's vote locally grown people. Though I do not expect to agree with Ed on all the issues, I am fully confident in his wisdom, integrity and experience to help Rockland rebuild itself after the prior city manager's many disgraces, which turned our city into a bitter battlefield.Let's remember who we are. Let's turn to people who have quietly shown their goodness all along and over and over proven their word is honorable.
