They continue to try even when things get hard

Students recognized for perseverance at Thomaston Grammar School

Tue, 05/07/2024 - 4:00pm

Several students at Thomaston Grammar School were recognized at a school-wide assembly on May 3, 2024.

Perseverance Awards were presented to Anthony Diaz, Ruby Benedict, Jayden Callahan, Matthew Hawkins, Quinn Liuzza, Alex Stinson, Emmett DeYoung, Trenton Adams, Corban Jackomino, Koral Garrison, Autumn Morin, Brycen Carr, Alex Watson, Logan Atwood, Christian Couch, Ryker Dare, Emma Emery, Zoey Hendron, and Dylan Latta.

These students are students who are known to persevere. They face challenges head on and do not back down. No matter the difficulty, they are able to overcome it. They continue to try even when things get hard or get messy.

Throughout the month, students were awarded daily tickets for showing perseverance. These tickets were put into a raffle and six lucky winners were drawn at the assembly. Winners received their choice of a prize, including gift cards donated by local businesses. This month’s winners were: Corban Jackomino, Caidence Knowlton, Kaycee Willis, Calvin Paul, London York, and Joy Chen.

Zoey Hendron was also presented with the Principal’s Award. Zoey is a magnificent member of the Thomaston Grammar School community. It is apparent to everyone in the community that she cares about her classmates and the staff members at TGS. She works hard to be an excellent member of her classroom and the greater Thomaston Grammar School community. She is consistently respectful in her interactions with all members of the school community. She always has a smile on her face and a positive attitude. Her words and actions let the people around her know that she cares about them and is willing to do anything in her power to help them. She is kind to everyone in our community. She is responsible and makes the choice to do what is right always, without being reminded to do so.

The assembly concluded with a game of musical dots! Students and staff danced around the gym to the song “I’m Still Standing.” When the music stopped, they all raced to a dot. With each round, two dots were taken and those who did not have a dot were eliminated. We continued to play until the final student or staff were the last one standing! Students and staff had a blast and we can’t wait for the next game at our final assembly of the
year!

Next month, students at TGS will be focusing on courage.

Congratulations to all the students and staff who received awards at TGS this month!
