Medomak Valley High School cheerleaders debut routines
WALDOBORO — The Medomak Valley High School Cheering Squad has been hard at work and Thursday night they performed their first half-time routine before a good sized crowd of fans at the girls varsity basketball game.
This years squad is small in numbers, with 12 varsity cheerleaders. The up-side is none of them are seniors, so if they can can add another two or three freshmen next year, their numbers will be in real good shape.
As it is, with the members they have, the first performance was very good. While the coaches and the girls probably found many things to work on, the crowd was impressed and into it.
This year’s cheer team members include juniors Alyssa Ducharme, Shania Melvin, Paige Russell, Olivia Ryan and Ashlee Wilson; sophomores Cassie Dever, Stephanie Hill, Amanda Poland and Hannah Wile; and freshmen Whitney Dow, Courtney Ducharme and Hannah Smith. The school mascot is Jared Mank. Head coach is Rachel Coor and assistant coach is Heather Simmons.
