Rockland Tim Horton’s shop abruptly shuttered overnight
ROCKLAND — The signs are gone, the windows are covered up and the racks that used to hold merchandise at the Tim Horton's coffee shop and bakery in Rockland are piled up next to the dumpster Wednesday afternoon. And for those looking for a TH coffee fix, they’re out of luck.
Tim Horton's has closed up shop in the Midcoast, and the closure caught regular customers off guard Wednesday. The Rockland shop, on Route 1 near the Waldo Avenue intersection, is closed for good, with staff having learned of the closure Tuesday evening.
A call to the chain coffee shop's corporate headquarters in Canada has not yet been returned, and there is no word of the reason for the closure, or what it means for the remaining more than two-dozen Tim Horton's shops in Maine.
On Monday, the Tim Horton’s in Skowhegan was shuttered, and in November, the franchise in Portland closed. In 2010, as many as 36 stores closed in the Northeast.
