Joseph Carr, obituary
CUSHING — Joseph W. Carr, 84, died Oct. 13, 2015, at Windward Gardens in Camden. Joe's life began at the Stinson Hospital in Bangor on Jan. 27, 1931.
During his sophomore year at Bangor High School, he asked Judy Wooster to the New Year's Dance and they have “gone steady” ever since.
He had three years at the Maine Maritime Academy and after graduation spent two years as an engineer on a Gulf Oil tanker. Next, he served two years in the U.S. Navy as an engineer on a minesweeper. His career then took him to several different jobs as a manager of engineers and turbines for General Electric Corporation, moving many times to different cities.
During that same period, the Carrs had two sons.
Always desiring to give back to his community, Joe volunteered in various capacities in all five towns where they lived.
After retiring to Cushing he volunteered with the rescue squad and, held six other municipal jobs through the years as well.
Joe will be missed by his brother, Ralph; and sisters-in-law, Nancy Carr and Jane Knight; and every day by his wife, Judy; and his sons, Tim and Dan; as well as his daughter-in-law, Sue Wright, for they have very special memories.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Friends of Cushing Rescue, c/o Sandra Blanchard, P.O. Box 20, Cushing, ME 04563.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, Oct. 24 at 1 p.m. at Pleasant View Cemetery on Davis Point Road in Cushing.
