George Graves, obituary
UNION – George L. Graves, 87, died peacefully Sept. 10, 2013, at home.
Born Feb. 24, 1926, in Boston, Mass., he was the son of George Sr. and Isabella Kerr Graves. Educated in Massachusetts, he was a 1944 graduate of Mechanic Arts High School in Dorchester.
For more than 41 years, Mr. Graves was employed by Walter Baker Chocolate and General Foods in Milton, Mass., and Dover, Del. Together with his wife, Virginia, George moved to Maine in 1993. Mrs. Graves passed away in 1994.
Mr. Graves is survived by his children, Marvin A. Graves and his wife, Sherry, of Loris, S.C., Jeanne I. Graves and her husband, Raymond Wiedower, of North Cape May, N.J., and Bradford G. Graves and his wife, Kelly, of Union; one brother, Charles C. Graves and his wife, Mamie, of Mavlern, Pa.; as well as six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by one grandson.
Family and friends are invited to visit Friday, Sept. 13, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St. in Rockland, where a funeral service will be held immediately following, at 2 p.m. Private interment will take place in Needham, Mass.
