Day off for Camden-Rockport Middle School students as maintenance crew fixes fuel leak
The Camden-Rockport Middle School on Knowlton Street in Camden closed its doors to students this morning, March 13, with reports of fumes filling the buildings.
A fuel leak in the boiler is apparently the culprit, according to the SAD 28 Superintendent’s Office.
Students who arrived by bus are being sent home at 9 a.m., and those arriving by car were turned back at the door.
As maintenance crews tend to the leak, the heat throughout the sprawling campus of three buildings has been turned off. With the temperatures outside at 10 degrees F, school administrators closed the school for the day, and expect business to be back as usual by Tuesday, March 14.
The tour of Camden-Rockport Middle School that was scheduled for 5 p.m. today has been rescheduled to Thursday, March 16 at 5 p.m.
