Camden Hills hockey off to fantastic start
ROCKPORT – The Camden Hills (2-0) ice hockey team is off to an incredible start to the season, picking up it’s second win in as many games Wednesday with a 12-1 win over Leavitt of Turner at Midcoast Recreation Center.
In the first two games this season the Windjammers have outscored their opponents 20-1 with the first goal against coming in the third period against Leavitt.
Grayson Szumilas had four goals and two assists to lead the Windjammers. Kieran Lydon had three goals; Nicholas Czuchra added two; and Parker Lawson, Jack Orne, Chase Matteo had one each. Orne had four assists; Szumilas, James Annis, Luke Noonan and Simon Lydon had two assists each; Nicholas Tassoni, Matteo added one each.
Adam Poulin scored the lone goal for Leavitt with an assist from Taylor Scribner.
Jet Magri was in goal for the Windjammers where he had 19 saves on 20 shots from Leavitt. Ashton Dozis was in goal for the Hornets where he had 33 saves on 45 shots from Camden Hills.
Camden was 1-of-3 in power play opportunities while Leavitt was 0-4.
Szumilas scored the first goal at 5:07 and that just opened the flood gates as the Windjammers proved that speed and skill will overcome size most of the time. While the Leavitt team is very big, strong and powerful, the speed and skating ability of the Windjammers was far superior to it’s opponent.

Camden Hills will be back at MRC Saturday, Dec. 14 for a 7 pm game against Hampden Academy.
