Camden Farmers’ Market announces activities, new vendors
CAMDEN — Abrahams Goat Farm and Creamery of Newport has joined Camden Farmers' Market's Wednesday afternoon lineup. A licensed Maine creamery and member of the Maine Cheese Guild, Abrahams produces farmstead goat cheeses including chevre, feta, panir and yogurt. The farm also produces goat meat cabrito (young milk-fed goat) and whey fed pork, selling various cuts including bacon and sausages.
Kids Club at Camden Farmers' Market meets Wednesday 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. pm through August 23. The program is free and open to all kids between the ages of 5 and 16, accompanied by an adult. Led by Nancy Wood, Nutrition Education Coordinator for Knox County, the program offers fun activities that teach kids how to make healthy food choices, and how to shop at market for locally produced food and have a good time doing it. The program is sponsored by the Maine SNAP-Ed and Knox County Community Health Coalition and is offered at Saturday and Wednesday markets. Each week participating kids will add stamps to their "Kids Club Passport" and receive a $2 token to be used toward a food purchase at market.
Music at Market, Camden Farmers' Market's open-air concert series, continues throughout the market season each Wednesday and Saturday. Upcoming performances are scheduled for Edith & Bennett, Miners Creek, Art Bouthot, Mike & Suzy, Will Neals & Andre Lascouix, Scot Cannon, Green Onions, Rt 17 Ramblers, Fran & Dave Plus, Jennifer Armstrong, Dusty, Joanna & Friends, Married with Chitlins, Millie Crocker, Rusty Hinges, Alyssa Bauer, Gardenia and Fernwind Ensemble.
