ROCKLAND — Step into the high-ceilinged Back Gallery at the Triangle Gallery, Friday, May 3, 2024 through Saturday, May 18, 2024, to be immersed in the large-scale, painted worlds of Susanna White.

“These pieces encourage one to sit and ponder, rest and play within the forms,” said Triangle Gallery, in a news release. “Simultaneously familiar and mysterious moments of beauty and darkness, joy and angst suggest looking skywards as well as inwards.”

For the artist painting abstracted cloud meditations has become a metaphor for life, playing with those moments when abstraction meets realism; when paint shifts from physical substance to imagery; when hard edges become soft; and when line turns to mass.

“The formal artistic exploration of transformation and contradiction become symbolic of human struggle while celebrating those moments that make us resilient, joyful and alive,” said the release.

Susanna White is an artist, plein air and studio painter, and teacher residing on a farm in Huntington, Massachusetts. She exhibits her work in Massachusetts and Maine. She has studied at the Art Institute of Chicago, receiving her MFA from Tulane University in 1993.
